Students were delighted to have the rare opportunity to attend treble clef-inspired concerts and tuneful tutorials with the NSW Police Band.
The band visited Epping West Public School last week where its members performed for students and conducted workshops with instrumentalists in the school’s bands.
Epping West Public School principal Rae Ward said the opportunity further enhanced learning experiences for students at the school, which is well known for its music programs.
“Many of our students are very talented musicians and have successfully performed in competitions,” Ms Ward said.
“We are so grateful to the NSW Police Band for making time to visit our school. We are very lucky to have them attend.”
Ms Ward said the school had five bands – Junior, Training, Intermediate, Performance and Big Band, as well as strings programs for Training, Beginner, Intermediate and Senior students.
The NSW Police Band was formed in 1895 and is Australia’s oldest and longest continuously running concert band, celebrating 125 years of service in 2020.
Regarded as ‘The State Band of NSW’, it is one of only two full-time police bands in the country.
