Like many people, Stephanie Dunstan frequently drove past Glebe Public School’s colourful front fence on the famed Glebe Point Road café strip.

But she had no idea what to expect of the school when her son started going there.

She couldn't be more delighted.

"Glebe Public School is the whole package - a small local 'village' like school with great NAPLAN scores and a strong focus on music and literacy," she said.

Stephanie, the president of the school's P and C, is determined to spread the word about Glebe Public, in a community that has numerous independent school options.

The P and C’s produced a 12-page dossier highlighting the school's achievements with parent testimonials, information about its multitude extra-curriculur activities and details of literacy and numeracy gains for current students.

"It's incredible that Glebe Public School has a specialist music teacher and librarian, with kids able to join the band program or a range of lunchtime clubs, such as Writing Club, where kids give up their lunchtime break to happily do creative writing," she said.

Principal Bryce Walker said the proof of school’s progress is in the results.

“Since 2022, our school has achieved a sustained upward trajectory in NAPLAN value-add, which is now excelling, reflecting strong student growth,” Mr Walker said.

“This is driven by our strategic investment in staff development, building collective efficacy and strengthening teaching practice, resulting in improved outcomes for every child.”

The P and C is working hard to bring the wider neighbourhood into the fold.

"The P&C is very active with community focused events like the upcoming Glebe Second Hand Book Sale on May 16 at Benlendi House, next to Glebe Library - a popular annual event attracting booklovers from across Sydney," Dunstan said.

But for Stephanie Dunstan, the best person to ask about the school is her son.

"My son is so happy at Glebe Public School. And so am I. He's had so many extracurricular opportunities: band, chess club, writing club!"
