East Hills Boys High School and East Hills Girls Technology High School are offering combined courses.
The relationship between East Hills Boys High School and East Hills Girls Technology High School allows students from each school to benefit from the other’s timetable.
East Hills Boys High School and East Hills Girls Technology High School have united to provide students with greater opportunities.
In 2017 the schools offered students courses that were not offered at their own school, for instance Year 11 girls studied Music, Engineering Studies and Sport, and Lifestyle and Recreation at the Boys High School, and boys went across to the Girls High School to study Software, Design and Development, Senior Science and Extension History. In preparing for 2018, the timetabling teams worked closely together, and there will be nine subjects with combined classes this year. Both schools were ranked in the top 200 schools based on the 2017 HSC top achievers list. "The relationship fostered with East Hills Girls allows both schools to broaden their curriculum offerings and provides our boys with opportunities otherwise not available in a single setting," says Kevin Elgood, principal of East Hills Boys High School. "As an example, the girls have been able to extend their Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) opportunities, with a great uptake for Engineering Studies."
The principal of East Hills Girls Technology High School, Jennifer Hardwick, agrees: "Shared curriculum experience goes beyond opportunities for students, as teachers can also teach courses they want professional experience in that are not offered at their home school," she says.
