Castle Hill High School students and teachers are tightening their shoelaces and joining forces to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
Over 100 volunteers will be participating in the Relay for Life fundraiser at Castle Hill Showgrounds from 16-17 May.
Over 24 hours, students and teachers will be spending the day and night walking, skipping and running around the grounds to battle cancer.
School captain Isaac Browne and Year 11 prefect Oliver Somi are carrying the baton for the fundraiser and have set a goal to raise $25,000.
“Every year Castle Hill High School assembles a team of students who represent our school at the Relay and raise funds for charity through a variety of methods,” Isaac said.
“We have already raised over $24,000 and are well on pace to surpass that goal.”
As part of their fundraising efforts, the school has organised a School Relay BBQ where they sold sausages and drinks in the playground to kickstart over $2,500 in donations for the team.
Castle Hill High School has participated in the Relay, which supports individuals impacted by cancer and funds cancer research, for more than a decade.
Principal Georgina Cuthbertson is proud of the combined $28,000 the school has raised for Cancer Council.
“It has been a true collaboration within the schooling community to get this over the line,” Ms Cuthbertson said. “Thank you to the Castle Hill High School P&C Association for being the major sponsor for our students and teachers.”
Supporters can rally the team and help their fight against cancer by donating to the relay team or purchasing raffle tickets.
