A hundred and fifty students from nine schools, including eight schools for specific purposes, have put on a gala show, celebrating ability, resilience and strength through music, song and dance.
With the theme of ‘showcasing talent and ability through resilience and strength’ (STARS) the creative and performing arts (CAPA) showcase organised by South Creek School and hosted by Quakers Hill East Public School.
Acts included dance ensembles, singing and signing choirs, rock band performances, solo performances and interpretive soundscapes.
Joint-school acts included an Auslan choir, coordinated by Carrie-Ann Ashenden, Amanda Ashenden and Chris Ashenden, and deaf teachers from South Creek School.
Student volunteers from Quakers Hill High School provided audio/visual support, as part of their vocational education and training studies.
Michelle Said, principal of South Creek School, hopes this will become an annual event for the schools involved.
“It’s a fantastic way to celebrate our students’ abilities and have their moment in the spotlight,” she said.
“I really want to thank all involved for their hard work and dedication to make this such a wonderful night of celebration.”
The CAPA showcase follows the All Inclusive Athletics Carnival, with the Inspire – High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) providing the opportunity for the schools to collaborate through events, giving all students access to co-curricular programs.
Schools that participated in the STARS HPGE CAPA showcase included South Creek School, Halinda School, William Rose School, The Ponds School, Tallowood School, Fernhill School, The Hills School, Kurrambee School and Quakers Hill East Public School.
