Pride was well and truly on display in Cammeray as Anzac Park Public School (on Cammeraygal land) celebrated its first 10 years.

Students, staff, parents and special guests gathered on Friday, 3 July to mark the occasion at a special assembly.

New Principal, Nicole Henderson, said taking the helm in this landmark year had been a privilege.

"Our school is a fantastic place because of the amazing students, caring teachers, and supportive families,” she said.

Mrs Henderson singled out the students as the true heart of the school, making it a joyful and inspiring place every day.

“You show us what it means to aspire, innovate, and achieve, and we are so proud of each and every one of you,” she said.

“Keep striving to be safe, responsible, and always do your best; your efforts and achievements are what make our school truly special.”

Year 6 student, Caitlin, like many other students, believes that Anzac Park Public School will set her up for success in high school next year.

“Thanks to the wonderful programs and teachers I have been able to achieve some great things that wouldn’t have happened without their help,” she said.

“We have such a great community who all work together to make sure that we are getting the best opportunities possible. I love seeing everyone smiling every day when I walk through the doors.”

Former student, Olivia Shaw, credited the school's community spirit and wellbeing focus with preparing her for the transition into high school, while her father praised the balance the school strikes between core academics and broader interests.

"What stood out to us about Anzac Park was its focus on behavioural learning and the way it encouraged students to explore interests beyond the classroom, while maintaining a strong foundation in core learning," Mr Shaw said.

The anniversary comes on the back of a strong run of achievements. Earlier in June, the school's Senior Choir represented Anzac Park at the North Sydney Council Citizenship Ceremony, with Year 6 students Liora and Livia delivering a speech on the values of good citizenship.

Students Chloe and Caitlan represented the school at the Local Finals of the Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition, with Chloe set to compete at regional finals in August.

While on 2 July, Assistant Principal Rachel Deane was honoured at the Metropolitan North Directorate Executive Director Recognition Awards for her contribution to teaching and leadership across the North Sydney Network.

At the celebration Mrs Henderson also gave thanks to the foundation principal, Mrs Unity Taylor-Hill.

"Her vision, dedication, and hard work helped create the strong foundation that has made this school what it is today. We are so grateful for everything she has done to guide and inspire the school,” Ms Henderson said.

Looking ahead, she outlined plans to sharpen the school's focus on literacy and numeracy through consistent teaching methods and careful use of data, alongside a continued emphasis on student voice and wellbeing.

“Our school will continue to be a place where everyone feels safe and respected,” she said.

“Our school motto—Aspire, Innovate, and Achieve—reminds us to dream big, be creative, and work hard to reach our goals. Our values of being Safe, Respectful, and showing Endeavour guide how we treat each other and approach our learning every day.

“Together they inspire us to be our very best and support one another as a community,” finishing her speech with the quote: “the best way to predict the future is to create it’.
