Four of Albury High School's HSC visual art students have been recognised for their exceptional talent, after being selected for the prestigious ARTEXPRESS exhibition.
Producing their works on Wiradjuri country, Charlotte Horn, Carl Liden, Mia McEachern and Eve Brown were chosen to be part of the annual showcase that exhibits at various galleries around NSW throughout 2026.
Ceramics was the chosen medium for three out of the four artists, Charlotte, Carl and Eve while Mia developed a digital media piece.
Their teacher, and practicing artist, Sharon McEachern said the nominations were a testament to their extraordinary dedication and creativity.
“These students attended every out-of-school workshop, whether during holidays, after school, or on weekends,” she said.
“They worked tirelessly, showing remarkable commitment and passion for their art.”
Works that are eligible for ARTSEXPRESS nomination must be an exemplary HSC project submitted work or performance that reflects the syllabus outcomes, content, and meets all HSC exam requirements.
“Whether it was waiting by the kiln or hauling carloads of props, these students truly went above and beyond,” Mrs McEachern said.
Eve’s artwork was centred around her grandmother and life on her farm, an integral part of her family’s life growing up. She hand built her ceramic pieces rather than using moulds, with each of the animals representing a family member.
Charlotte’s work was inspired by the playful, chaotic energy of her border collie puppies.
Carl took a dive into the unique world of mystery, anonymity, and secrets, while Mia’s collection was a take on the mind-bending worlds created by late American filmmaker and screenwriter David Lynch.
“It is a fantastic moment to see these students rewarded for their dedication and skill,” Albury High School principal Damian Toohey said.
“What an incredible way to finish 13 years of schooling, they should all be immensely proud of their efforts.”
In total, the school received six nominations for ARTEXPRESS, with Ava Devries also making a ceramics piece and Peri Carroll producing a drawing.
ARTEXPRESS forms part of the HSC Showcase Season, where students who excelled in creative arts and technology subjects for the HSC are celebrated.
Albury High students also had nominations from outside the visual arts classroom.
Mia also received an On-STAGE nomination for Drama, alongside her classmate Lilith Houston-Damic.
In Industrial Technology, student Tyler Farnsworth received a SHAPE exhibition nomination, as did Design and Technology student Anthea Johnston.
For Dance, Leilani Marzano received three CALLBACK nominations for Major Study, Core Composition and Core Performance.
Students chosen for the HSC Showcase Season are announced late November to early December, depending on the subject.
