Thornton Public School’s aerobic team has won a national title in just its second year of competition.
After qualifying for the NSW titles by video and winning that event last term, the team called the Thornton Thunder won the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness National Title in Queensland on 11 August. Last year the Thornton Thunder came seventh.
Principal Stuart Wylie said the result was testimony to the hard work of the Year 5 and 6 girls, the dedication of their coach, teacher Nicole Lubans, and the support and encouragement of the girls’ parents.
“It’s not just talent, effort and fitness that bring success, but teamwork, personal and group motivation,” Mr Wylie said.
“Pushing themselves in these areas is a great lesson for any area of endeavour in the future, and wonderful role-modelling for our other students.”
