Public school students have a chance to follow the footsteps that forged the Anzac spirit by winning a Premier's Anzac Memorial Scholarship.
Public secondary schools across NSW are being encouraged to express interest in the 2018 Premier's Anzac Memorial Scholarship offering students a chance to trace the footsteps of those who forged the Anzac spirit.
The scholarship will enable students to embark on a 13-day pilgrimage to significant battlefields in Ypres, Passchendaele, the Somme and Flanders and to honour the centenary of the Battle of Hamel.
The study tour encourages scholarship recipients to become leaders of a new generation who better understand the service and sacrifice of Anzacs on battlefields half a world away from home.
Witnessing firsthand historic sites where the Anzac ethos endured, the scholarship study tour will be an important part of the Centenary of Anzac commemorations.
The commemorations play a valuable role in recognising the service of Australian men and women and their contribution to the evolution of our nationhood and identity.
Principals have until 17 August to nominate their school's interest on the Veteran Affairs website.
Students at each successful school will then be chosen as their school's scholarship representative by preparing a piece of work on the Centenary of Anzac.
