Department and legislative requirements

MyPL provides:

  • access to current resources
  • accurate records of the completion of training and information regarding recertification dates
  • a reporting system to meet legislative and departmental requirements regarding training undertaken by staff

Some of the available courses are:

e-Administration of prescribed medication at school (e-APMAS)

  • course code DV02112
  • self-paced course delivered in four modules
  • covers the department’s requirements, the administration of prescribed medication in the school environment and integrated assessment through multiple choice questions

Provide first aid (HLTAID003)

  • course code DV02270
  • SafeWork NSW requires all first aid courses be aligned to the unit of competency HLTAID003 provide first aid
  • All NSW government schools and departmental workplaces must arrange their first aid training to be carried out by appropriately qualified external providers

Face to face CPR and anaphylaxis training

  • Annual training.  Each school must ensure that a significant proportion of staff attend the training, subject to essential student supervision requirements.  This must be conducted through the department’s approved panel of training providers.

Training records for these courses are automatically transferred to MyPL via the e-Safety system. Principals are not required to schedule a session for these courses.

Anaphylaxis e-learning (APTSs)

  • Course code RG00126 (WHS e-Safety online course)
  • Recognise and provide an emergency response to anaphylaxis and information about key departmental policies and strategies to manage and support students diagnosed as being at risk of anaphylaxis

Training records for this course are automatically transferred to MyPL via the e-Safety system. Principals are not required to schedule a session for this course.

e-Emergency Care (APTSs)

  • course code RG00219 (WHS e-Safety online course)
  • provides simple, effective treatment and management protocols to support staff to manage common emergencies
  • reflects the types of illnesses, incidents and accidents most commonly occurring in schools, school activities and on excursions.

Mandatory Child Protection Training 2017 - school staff

  • reinforces the responsibility to report suspected risk of harm concerns and support children and young people

Code of Conduct Update 2014-15 (This course is still current for 2016)

  • clarifies the standards of behaviour that are expected of departmental staff in their performance of their duties and provides guidance in areas where staff need to make personal and ethical decisions.
