  • New child protection training requirements

    Following changes to the National Law from 1 October 2017, new child protection training requirements have been introduced nationally for nominated supervisors and for the “person in day-to-day charge” at early childhood services.

  • Support for Services to improve quality

    A $2.5 million investment focusing on quality improvement in the early childhood education sector has been launched in 2018 to strengthen and support providers to ensure consistently high-quality services are available for children and their families.

  • Quality Learning - Upgrade your preschool

    Applications are now open for the new $10 million Quality Learning Environments program. Launched by the Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell, the grants will be provided to develop the quality of physical environments, and to support the health and safety or other functional needs of children attending preschool services.

  • Revised NQS now in action

    Now well established and recognised across the country, the National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of education and care services, and is the basis for assessing and rating services by the NSW Department of Education.

  • Census results: preschool enrolments up

    Data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in the Preschool Education Australia Report in February shows a significant increase in the proportion of four and five year old children attending all forms of early childhood education in NSW in 2017 compared to 2016.

  • Spotlight on NSW for ACEL conference

    Services, providers and sector representatives are invited to register for the 3rd annual ACEL Early Childhood Conference in Sydney on 9 - 10 August.
