  • Feedback Assist – a new way to provide feedback

    A new online feature has been introduced on the department's website, known as  Feedback Assist.

    The department welcomes feedback from all external stakeholders and communities so we can learn from customer experiences and resolve complaints promptly. We also like to hear when things have gone well, so we can create even more positive experiences. Feedback Assist will make this process quicker and easier.

  • New State environmental planning policy – Early Childhood

    The introduction of the State Environmental Planning Policy (Educational Establishments and Child Care Facilities) 2017 will ensure greater consistency in the development of quality early childhood education facilities.

  • NDIS update for ECE Sector

    The National Disability Insurance Scheme is changing the way people with disability can access the supports they need.

    All staff within early childhood services should understand how the NDIS works, so they can offer guidance and support to children, their families and carers.

  • Next round of sector consultations open

    The second round of sector consultation sessions has commenced, with a total of 16 sessions planned in 15 locations around the state, to discuss key policies and initiatives over the next 4 weeks.

    Building on the high levels of engagement in the successful May consultation series, the department is continuing its commitment to working closely with the sector to ensure ongoing positive engagement and participation.

  • ACECQA explores vocational education

    With the National Quality Framework now in its fifth year, an increase in quality ratings among services has been achieved as a result of the consistent focus on ensuring compliance with the national framework.

  • Professional development grants

    To help ensure ECE staff are supported in career upskilling, the department has launched the Early Childhood Professional Development Grants program.

    The grants are designed to help staff working in centre based and mobile preschools to access the latest learning opportunities.

  • ECE experts converge in Wollongong

    Representatives from the ECED attended the University of Wollongong's Early Startconference which was themed "Helping Children Flourish and Realise Their Potential: Translating Research for Policy, Practice and Community".

    Special guest speakers included international early childhood education academics Steve Barnett and Ted Melhuish, and Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills, and special advisor on education policy to the Secretary-General at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

  • Maintenance of Teacher Accreditation Policy

    From 1 January 2018 a new Maintenance of Teacher Accreditation Policy will be implemented. This will replace the current policies on maintaining accreditation for all NSW teachers and will be relevant to those early childhood teachers who are maintaining Proficient Teacher accreditation.
