Start Strong Update

Community Preschools have welcomed the news that Start Strong funding will be extended to all non-equity 3 year olds from 1 January 2019.

The new funding subsidies will be phased in over four years, and Priority of Access guidelines will continue to apply to ensure children in the year before school and children with the greatest need are enrolled first.

The Priority of Access guidelines are aligned with our obligations under the National Partnership Agreement, to ensure universal access to early childhood education for all children enrolled in the year before school for 600 hours, and a focus on ensuring participation by Aboriginal children and disadvantaged children.

Information on Priority of Access is outlined in the Start Strong Program Guidelines, along with an updated funding calculator.

A voluntary ad hoc data collection will be undertaken in March to support the implementation of the new funding arrangements.

The department remains committed to working with the sector to ensure the benefits of the Start Strong funding arrangements are maximised.

Community Connections Solutions Australia (CCSA) and Community Early Learning Australia  (CELA) have been engaged by the NSW Government to provide sector support and are available through the details below
