2019 Aboriginal Early Childhood Education Scholarship program
Scholarships of up to $20,000 each are being offered to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wishing to complete a four-year equivalent bachelor level early childhood education teaching qualification.
These scholarships have been developed to help increase the number of Aboriginal early childhood teachers in NSW, and ensure children have access to inclusive and culturally appropriate education programs.
Kristie Brown, Director of Programs and Strategic Projects, said the team is looking forward to reviewing the applications
“Applicants are not required to be currently working in the early childhood sector in order to apply and can be prospective students or currently enrolled,” Kristie said.
“We appreciate the importance of this program in embedding cultural safety in early childhood services, and to give families every confidence that preschools are welcoming and inclusive places for all children.”
For further information, please review the Application Guidelines or contact the department’s Aboriginal Services team on 1300 755 426 or at AboriginalprogramsECED@det.nsw.edu.au
Applications for the 2019 round are now open until Friday 7 December 2018 and should be submitted online through Smarty Grants.
