Incentive Scholarships for regional and remote NSW

Incentive Scholarships for regional and remote NSW

The department recently launched an Incentive Scholarships program, available to educators currently undertaking their teaching degree and working in regional and remote areas of NSW.

Designed to contribute to the development of a higher quality workforce, the program will build on the success of the existing Rural and Remote Early Childhood Teaching Scholarship program which has seen students graduating with increased confidence and skills, and continuing to work in early childhood services around the state.

Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell said the previous successful uptake of the scholarships program demonstrates the importance of supporting educators while they advance their qualifications.

"The NSW Government recognises many early childhood educators who have already commenced their course will appreciate financial support to complete their degree," Minister Mitchell said.

"As a result of the additional training, more children across NSW will have access to highly skilled early childhood teachers delivering quality education programs.

"High quality early childhood education for children is critical in ensuring they have the best start to their school life as possible, and early childhood teachers are absolutely essential in achieving this," she said.

Up to 30 scholarships of up to $9,000 each have been offered. Applications have now closed and successful applications will be notified of the outcome of their applications in December 2017.
