September Sector Roadshow Success

September Sector Roadshow Success

It was great to see so many enthusiastic participants from the sector attending the early childhood education roadshow sessions during September throughout NSW.

There was plenty of energy and interest among the groups, with some engaging discussions held at the respective events. The  events are great for networking and meeting others in the sector and always an opportunity to learn something new.

Thirteen sessions were held in September across the following metropolitan and regional locations:

  • Sydney CBD – 2 sessions
  • Newcastle
  • Macquarie Park
  • Yass
  • Taree
  • Deniliquin
  • Tweed Heads
  • Hornsby
  • Moree
  • Parkes
  • Coffs Harbour
  • Penrith

We had over 1300 attendees from the sector who participated across NSW. The sessions once again provided an opportunity for educators and sector staff to engage with the department’s early childhood education team, to listen to updates, hone their understanding of the regulatory space, and discuss initiatives to strengthen and enhance the delivery of early childhood education across NSW.

Staff from Community Preschools had the opportunity to learn more about the roll out of Start Strong for three year olds, in a session hosted by Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) and Community Connections Solutions Australia (CCSA), who delivered information on what to expect and how to navigate the adjustments required to accommodate the potential influx of new young students.

More information from the Roadshow is now available for those who were unable to attend including a video presentation of the Regulatory updates and Policy presentations and a video summary of the CELA & CCSA session.

The feedback about the roadshow was overwhelmingly positive with attendees sharing some great comments about what they enjoyed most about the opportunity.

Some of the comments from attendees are published below:

  • Love how they are run. Great to get information and be refreshed on regulations that others are struggling with.
  • Very much appreciate the time to be able to connect with the Department and colleagues around issues that are relevant and pertinent to our work with families and children and ask questions that are highly topical.
  • The session was very helpful and I appreciate the innovative thinking by the department and opportunities being given to the sector to improve service delivery and be included into conversations
  • Yesterday’s roadshow was respectful and encouraging and my heart sang.
  • I believe these road shows are fantastic in helping to keep the sector informed, feel supported and listened to.
  • Providing free professional development opportunities has been so beneficial, both as sector development programs and road shows. Please continue these!
  • Great presenters and relevant information
  • I would like to take this opportunity to thank the department for their concerted effort to support, update and engage service representatives with issues surrounding funding, regulation and associated programs on a regular basis over the past 12months. I feel that the transparency and forward thinking demonstrated from the department is fantastic.
  • Consultation is also greatly appreciated; as well as discussion with peers.
