Revised NQS now in action

Revised NQS now in action

Now well established and recognised across the country, the National Quality Standard (NQS) sets a national benchmark for the quality of education and care services, and is the basis for assessing and rating services by the NSW Department of Education.

Following the changes to the NQF on 1 October 2017, the revised NQS came into effect on 1 February, 2018.

Under the revision, outcomes for children remain at the centre of everything that providers and educators do with children, families and the community

The revised NQS uses clearer language and introduces quality concepts for each standard, while also having fewer elements and standards: 15 standards and 40 elements, compared to 18 standards and 58 elements.

The department has commenced Assessment and Ratings visits to services using the revised NQS.  Services will be advised by the department when they have been scheduled for an assessment and ratings visit.

For further information about the changes is available from the Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority (ACECQA) website and in the Guide to the National Quality Framework.
