Disability and Inclusion program now open

Disability and Inclusion program now open

Following an extensive consultation period, the new Disability and Inclusion program commenced from 1 January 2018.

An update has recently been provided to centre based and mobile community preschools on implementation arrangements for the 2018 program.

The aim of the program is to support community preschools to provide access to a quality educational program for children with disability and additional needs on the same basis as their peers. The new program is also aligned with the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the Start Strong early childhood education funding model .

Community preschools which have enrolled children with disability and additional needs can enter the relevant information in ECCMS, which is open until Wednesday 27 March 2018.

Transition funding is available to assist eligible preschools to transition to the Disability and Inclusion Program, allowing services time to adapt and to receive the training and supports available through the Sector Capacity Building Program.

Further details are available in the 2018 Disability and Inclusion Program guidelines.

Transition funding will be available for community preschools with high numbers of children who would have been funded at level 1 under the PDSP and those who meet the eligibility criteria. A transition funding calculator is available on the department’s website to support services to understand their preschool’s eligibility and the estimated allocation.

Further information is available on our website, or by contacting the department on 1300 755 426 or by email  to ecec.funding@det.nsw.edu.au
