Community Grants available for eligible services

Community Grants available for eligible services

Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell announced late last year that funding would be available for the Community Grants program and applications are now open.

The program was established to provide services with opportunities to access funding for programs promoting educational access or participation for Aboriginal children and disadvantaged children, as well as initiatives that improve educational experiences or outcomes for these children.

“We believe it is important for services to create welcoming environments and build meaningful relationships with children in order to break down any barriers that may stop families enrolling,” Minister Mitchell said.

Not-for-profit, community-based preschools (including mobile preschools) are eligible to apply for grants of up to $7,000.

To be eligible to apply for a Community Grant, service providers must:

  • Be a not-for-profit, community-based preschool or operate a mobile preschool
  • Be an approved early childhood education and care service under the National Law and Regulations
  • Be currently funded by the Early Childhood Education Directorate Community Preschool Grants Program
  • Comply with the Terms and Conditions for the Early Childhood Education and Care Grants Program

For full details on eligibility and spending rules, please see the Community Grant guidelines. For further information call 1300 755 426 or email ecec.funding@det.nsw.edu.au.

Applications are open through SmartyGrants and will close on 2 April.
