Capital Works Grants program

Capital Works Grants program

To improve access to quality early childhood education services in communities where there is a demonstrated need, the Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell has announced the 2018 $5M Start Strong Capital Works Grants program.

The program aims to create up to 300 new 600 hour preschool places in areas of the state where there is a demonstrated shortage. The program will prioritise accessible and appropriate educational access for those who need it most, including culturally safe and appropriate educational settings for Aboriginal children.

Eligible community preschools and mobile preschools can apply under five categories:

  • Construction of a new centre based community preschool facility.
  • Extending an existing centre based community preschool facility.
  • Motor vehicles for mobile preschools.
  • Responding to crisis situations (for example to provide appropriate environments for Aboriginal children or children with disability to enrol in preschool when required, maintain preschool places where a service faces closure, or provide unique solutions for remote communities).
  • Renovations to existing or new premises

Applications are now open and will close on 27 April 2018
