A message from Minister Mitchell

Our commitment to investing in Early Childhood Education continues this year, and I’m pleased to pause and reflect on what we’ve achieved so far, and to remind you of the range of new programs we have launched to support the sector.

Following extensive consultation, the new Disability and Inclusion program is now open to support community preschools to provide access to a quality educational program for children with disability and additional needs on the same basis as their peers

Applications are open for several programs including the $10 million Quality Learning Environments, the $5 million Start Strong Capital Works Grants, and the 2018 Community Grants. The Aboriginal Services team has extended the Walking Together program in partnership with Ngroo, and this week we’ve announced the Aboriginal Quality Support Program.

Targeted support has also been announced for Mobile Preschools through the additional Venue Funding program.

Following its launch in December, applications for Start Strong Pathways have also flooded in this year and these applications are currently being assessed.

Thank you everyone for all your attention to these initiatives to ensure more children have access to high quality early childhood education. I have had the pleasure of seeing the sector at its best through several community and sector visits in 2018 and look forward to seeing the continued growth and quality improvements throughout the year.

Kind regards,

Sarah Mitchell MLC
