Travel support for educators to attend FDC Australia conference

It takes a range of services to provide the early childhood education support that families want and need, and there are unique elements and advantages to each.

There is always more to do in developing and enhancing service delivery. That’s why the department is pleased to be supporting NSW educators wishing to attend the Family Day Care Australia National Conference on the Gold Coast in September 2018.

The NSW Department of Education has allocated funds of $10,000 to assist early childhood educators living in NSW to attend the conference, by subsidising the cost of travel.

The conference will consider what makes Family Day Care unique, and bring together stakeholders to discuss opportunities and issues affecting the sector. This year, the conference themes including flexibility, professional practice, relationships, autonomy, and diversity and social support.

Acting Director of Policy Insight and Engagement Amber Mackay said the conference is a training platform to enrich the delivery of quality early childhood services in NSW, while also providing valuable development opportunities for educators and a chance to learn from our northern neighbours.

“Family Day Care Australia does important work supporting services providing early childhood education and care,” Amber said.

“The department recognises that providing support for educators to attend professional development opportunities is key to extending the quality of education and care services that this sector provides.”

The conference will address the key aspects of quality identified by families, educators and other staff in the “Perspectives on quality in Australian Family Day Care” report, empowering services and providers to support the diverse and evolving needs of Australian children and their families.

Family Day Care educators have been offered the opportunity to apply for these grants. Applications have now closed, and successful applicants will be notified by FDCA shortly.
