Rural and Remote Early Childhood Teaching Scholarships
Thirty scholarships of up to $10,000 each are available for diploma qualified educators working in rural and remote communities, and areas with an identified shortage of early childhood teachers, to help ensure equal access to quality childhood education for all children.
Part of the department's Rural and Remote Education: A blueprint for action, the scholarship program is designed to support educators to upgrade to an early childhood teaching qualification.
Applications for the 2018 Rural and Remote Early Childhood Teaching Scholarships are open until Friday 9 June 2017.
To be eligible to apply, applicants must be:
- diploma-qualified early childhood educators
- currently working in long day care services, centre-based or mobile preschools in rural and remote NSW
- Australian citizens or permanent residents
- willing to undertake a four-year bachelor degree in early childhood teaching
Applicants must not have already commenced an early childhood teaching degree prior to applying for the scholarship.
Early childhood teachers are invaluable to the quality and care of centre-based and mobile services. They deliver high-quality teaching and learning to young children, and help ensure they have a strong start to their school life.
Courses must be recognised on ACECQA's Qualifications List of approved early childhood teaching degrees.
Scholarships are offered for study to commence in the 2018 academic year. A limited number of scholarship places may be available for applicants who wish to commence study in the last semester of 2017.
