Support for Services to improve quality

A $2.5 million investment focusing on quality improvement in the early childhood education sector has been launched in 2018 to strengthen and support providers to ensure consistently high-quality services are available for children and their families.

The NSW Department of Education’s Quality Support Program in partnership with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) will deliver eligible providers a range of supports, including initial visits, training, online follow-up and telephone support and resources to boost quality.

The increased focus on quality within services means families and carers will have more opportunities to access the best education and care for their children.

Service providers will be supported to enhance service quality, improve safety standards, and implement quality programs that lift learning outcomes and optimise the health and well-being of children.

Service providers and educators are continually striving towards consistently high standards, and this program will continue to build on this to ensure all children, no matter where they are in the state, are attending high quality services.

Program details, including criteria for participation are being finalised, and eligible services will then be contacted directly with an offer of additional support, and the opportunity to demonstrate quality improvement in their next assessment and rating.

Under the National Quality Standard, the department, as the regulator in NSW, works in collaboration with the sector and the national authority to support and promote continuous quality improvement so that the quality of all education and care services meets the National Quality Standard, or better.
