Start Strong fee reduction

The NSW Government is committed to ensuring that affordability is not a barrier for families with young children.

Through the Start Strong program, the Department of Education is providing an additional $115 million in funding to support universal access to early childhood education, no matter where families live or what their circumstances are. Preschool providers are required to pass on the bulk of the additional funding to families through fee reductions.

Who is eligible for fee reduction?

The fee reduction applies to all eligible children aged four and five, as well as three year old children from Aboriginal and/or low income families. Preschools are encouraged to reduce equity daily fees for all eligible children as the first priority before reducing fees for all other eligible children.

Need help working out the fee reduction?

Community Early Learning Australia (CELA) and Community Connections Solutions Australia (CCSA) are providing business support to services during the transition to Start Strong. Each of the peak organisations will be providing telephone and email support, and conducting visits to services as part of the Start Strong Sector Support program.
