Online learning now available for NSW OSHC services

Under the Outside School Hours Care Quality Development Program (OSHC QDP), the Department of Education has partnered with Early Childhood Australia (ECA) to develop online professional learning that meets the unique needs of NSW Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services.

This free and comprehensive online program breaks down the National Quality Framework across interactive online learning modules, webinars and videos. Educators and service leaders will gain a deep and practical knowledge of the National Quality Framework including My Time, Our Place - Framework for School Age Care in Australia and elements of the National Quality Standard.

Participating in this free professional learning program has the potential to support quality improvement across OSHC services and deliver improved outcomes for children.  Improving quality means families can be confident that their children are receiving high quality education and care.

The Quality Development modules and webinars consist of:

National Quality Framework

  • Overview of the National Quality Framework

Quality Area 1

  • My Time, Our Place – Framework for School Age Care in Australia
  • Program planning in OSHC

Quality Area 2

  • Active supervision of children

Quality Area 3

  • Environments in OSHC
  • Supporting children to become environmentally responsible

Quality Area 4

  • Being an OSHC professional

Quality Area 5

  • Self-regulation with children 5-12 years
  • Supporting children to develop conflict resolution skills

Quality Area 6

  • Engaging and building relationships with the local community

Quality Area 7

  • Developing and maintaining Quality Improvement Plans for OSHC
