Kidscape Early Learning Centre Albury suspended for six months following significant child safety concerns
The NSW Early Learning Commission has immediately suspended the service approval for Kidscape Early Learning Centre Albury due to ongoing non-compliance and child safety risks.
24 September 2026
The suspension followed several breaches of the National Law, including failure to adequately supervise children, failure to protect children from harm and hazards and an unsafe indoor and outdoor environment.
Other key concerns include inadequate age stage appropriate resources for children, lack of awareness of child protection legislation and reporting requirements, and inadequate staff induction processes.
This suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in place for six months. All enrolled families have been contacted and offered assistance to find alternative care.
While we acknowledge the impact of the suspension on families, Kidscape Early Learning Centre Albury must close and address the issues to ensure there is no further risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of children before it is permitted to reopen.
An investigation is ongoing and the Commission may take further compliance action against the provider where appropriate.
Families that need support to find an alternative service can visit the Starting Blocks website or contact the Commission’s Information and Enquiries team on 1800 619 113 or information@earlylearningcommission.nsw.gov.au.
Please attribute to NSW Early Learning Commissioner Daryl Currie:
“Our decision to suspend Kidscape Early Learning Centre Albury was the result of significant concerns about the immediate risks to children identified by our Authorised Officers.
“While we have worked with the service to uplift quality, after multiple visits and compliance actions issued over two years, we took decisive action in the best interests of the children at the service.
“I understand the impact service closures have on families, especially in regional areas like Albury, however families trust early learning services to provide safe, nurturing environments for their children and we will take decisive action when children's safety is at risk."
