Covid 70% Roadmap - what does this mean for Employers, SBAT’s, and Apprentice’s and Trainee’s?

Help NSW stay COVID safe.

From Monday 11 October 2021, eased restrictions will allow those who are fully vaccinated greater freedom.

Businesses will operate at one person per 4sqm indoors and one person per 2sqm outdoors.

Education is exempt from this rule – Providers are encouraged to adhere to 1.5m social distancing for all staff, students and visitors to their site

Vaccinations

Greater Sydney

  • From 11 October fully vaccinated Apprentices and Trainees can return to work.
  • Employer must ensure they have sighted the vaccination status of all employees including Apprentices and Trainees over 16 years old.

Regional NSW

  • For settings in regional NSW with vaccination requirements for staff and customers, staff can return to work on 11 October if they have had at least 1 dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, but must be fully vaccinated by 1 November 2021.
  • Regional NSW excludes, Greater Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour.

Where and how to get your COVID-19 vaccination

Face to face training

  • Online delivery is still encouraged where practicable
  • Face to face training can be delivered for critical skills from 11 October 2021 where this cannot be done online
  • Please contact your training provider to discuss further.

Masks and QR codes

  • Masks required for all staff (including Apprentices and Trainees) and customers in all indoor settings including on public transport (except children under the age of 12).
  • Masks no longer required in outdoor settings (except for front-of-house hospitality staff).
  • COVID Safe check-ins and proof of vaccination required for staff (including Apprentices and Trainees) and customers.

Returning to Work

Greater Sydney

  • Apprentices and Trainee can return to work from 11 October if fully vaccinated.
  • Employers can allow Apprentice’s and Trainee’s to continue to work from home, if reasonably practicable.
  • Employers require Apprentice’s and Trainee’s who are not fully vaccinated to work from home, if reasonably practicable.

Regional NSW

  • In regional NSW staff can return to work on 11 October if they have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, but must be fully vaccinated by 1 November 2021.
  • Employers can allow Apprentice’s and Trainee’s to continue to work from home, if reasonably practicable.

Travel and Transport

Greater Sydney

  • Restricted travel within LGAs and 5km radius is removed.
  • Travel between Greater Sydney (including Central Coast, Wollongong, Shellharbour and Blue Mountains) and Regional NSW are not permitted.

Regional NSW

  • No distance limits for travel. Travel between Greater Sydney (including Central Coast, Wollongong, Shellharbour and Blue Mountains) and Regional NSW are not permitted.
  • Travel between regional local government areas is permitted.
