The following local government areas (LGAs) are currently operating as Level 4 plus schools and are considered LGAs of concern:

  • Bayside
  • Blacktown
  • Burwood
  • Campbelltown
  • Canterbury-Bankstown
  • Cumberland
  • Fairfield
  • Georges River
  • Liverpool
  • Parramatta
  • Strathfield.

Selected suburbs in the Penrith LGA included for increased restrictions from 8 August:

  • Caddens
  • Claremont Meadows
  • Colyton
  • Erskine Park
  • Kemps Creek
  • Kingswood
  • Mt Vernon
  • North St Marys
  • Orchard Hills
  • Oxley Park
  • St Clair
  • St Marys.

Parents and carers in these LGAs of concern must keep children – of all ages, across primary school, secondary school and early childhood education or care – at home unless they cannot be cared for or educated at home. Schools and outside of school hours care (OOSHC) services are open for any child that needs it.

Schools in the LGAs of concern will remain open with an absolute minimum of staff.

Staff and students who live outside these LGAs can enter these LGAs to work or attend school if it is absolutely necessary and they cannot work or be educated at home. We must attempt to minimise movement across LGAs wherever possible.

If attending school for an essential reason, students must adhere to Level 4 restrictions.

A reminder for all families

Students must not attend work or school if unwell, even with mild symptoms of COVID-19. Any person with any COVID-19 symptoms must be sent home and not return to school unless:

  • they have isolated for 10 days, when no medical certificate is available
  • they have a negative COVID-19 test result and are symptom free.

In circumstances where children have other medical reasons for recurrent symptoms, a letter from their GP is sufficient to negate the requirement for a negative test.

Anyone who is unwell with COVID-19 symptoms is strongly encouraged to get tested and self-isolate until a negative result is received. Find your local testing clinics.
