Self-assessment and evaluation

Assessment and external validation are key components of the School excellence cycle.

Schools use improvement measures to complete an annual reflection. In the annual reflection schools evaluate their progress measures, and the effectiveness of their initiatives in achieving their strategic directions and improving student outcomes. To inform this, schools regularly collect, analyse and evaluate a range of qualitative and quantitative evidence.

Schools then complete the self-assessment using the School Excellence Framework (SEF).

Every four years, schools undergo external validation of their self-assessment. Schools engage in discussions with an external panel and have their self¬-assessments validated using the SEF.
