This year we celebrate NAIDOC Week with the theme, 'Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let's work together for a shared future.' Two events have been organised for department staff at 105 Phillip Street, Parramatta or you can visit the NAIDOC Week website to find out more, including other opportunities to get involved.

NAIDOC Week Celebration

Tuesday 9 July 2019 11:00am to 1:00pm

All Department of Education staff are invited to celebrate NAIDOC Week with us, either in person at 105 Phillip Street, Parramatta, or by live-stream on skype. Featuring three guest speakers who will share their insights on Aboriginal education and a musical performance by a surprise special guest, followed by lunch, our NAIDOC Week Celebration is presented by CESE and Aboriginal Education and Communities with the support of the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, HR and Great Place to Work. Find out more on Eventbrite.

Warami Mittigar Cultural Walk and Experience

Thursday 11 July  10:00am to 1:00pm

Department staff in Parramatta are also invited to join The Warami Mittigar Cultural Walk and Experience. Also presented by CESE and Aboriginal Education and Communities with the support of the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, HR and Great Place to Work, the Warami Mittigar Cultural Walk and Experience will include Welcome to Country, a smoking ceremony, cultural presentation and a guided, easy walk along the river and in Parramatta Park.

This is an opportunity for staff to spend time on country with traditional custodians of Darug land and to learn about connections to land, plant uses, tools, hunting and other aspects of local culture. The walk will be followed by a morning tea and Q&A with Aboriginal guides. Find out more on Eventbrite.
