17 Sept 2018: Acknowledging Country in Parramatta

Wall decal with acknowledgement of country language
Acknowledgement of Country wall decals in meeting rooms at 105 Phillip Street.

An Acknowledgement of Country wall decal is now in the large meeting rooms on levels 1 and 12 at 105 Phillip Street.

The decals say:

We acknowledge we meet on the homelands of the Darug people. We pay respects to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.

An Acknowledgement of Country is an opportunity for anyone to show respect for Traditional Owners and the continuing connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to Country.

An Acknowledgement of Country can be given at the beginning of a meeting, speech or formal occasion in the building.

Both non-Indigenous people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can deliver an Acknowledgement.

Learn more about acknowledging Country and the difference between a Welcome to Country and an Acknowledgement.
