Rural Experience Program

The Rural Experience Program provides an opportunity for permanent teachers to take part in a short-term placement of 1 to 4 terms in a Rural and Remote school.

Placements are created by principals for the program. The placements are funded by the Rural and Remote Education initiative and are extra to the establishment at the host rural school.

Applications will open to teachers in Term 2, 2019 for placements commencing in 2020.

An allowance of $500 per week is available to teachers for the duration of the placement.

The anticipated schedule for 2020 placements is as follows:

  • Term 1, 2019 - Principals of Rural Experience Schools create Rural Experience positions within their schools
  • Term 2, 2019 - Interested Teachers apply for Rural Experience positions
  • Term 3, 2019 - Offers made to successful applicants
