Our website design uses a progressive enhancement, or layered, approach to support a wide range of popular web browsers.
This means that basic functional and visual design should work with most web browsers, with enhanced features made available to users with more advanced browsers.
Supported web browsers
The Global Experience Framework (GEF) templates, patterns and components are tested against the following browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
- Microsoft Edge
- Apple Safari (latest)
- Google Chrome (latest)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest)
- Safari (iPhone latest)
- Chrome (Android latest).
Note this list does not prevent support for alternate or older browsers which may work equally as well.
If a website's user base is small and tightly defined, such as internal users for a custom CMS, support for a minimum browser set is not required.
For the best web experience on websites and web applications using GEF we recommend using a contemporary up-to-date web browser such as Chrome, Microsoft Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Safari.
For the recommended browser to use on other web applications and websites consult the Application Browser Compatibility Matrix (intranet link).
