Crime Statistics and Trends
This report shows you the trends of different crime types over time for each Local Government Area (LGA). These are reported every two years. Not all crimes are shown. This cannot be used as an overall indicator of crime for an area.
How will these reports benefit me?
Use this report to understand the prevalence of specific types of crime in your area. Work with the police and other agencies to implement programs within your location to assist students as required.
It can help assist answering questions such as:
What is the crime rate by crime category?
What is the crime rate over a period of time?
Some offence categories may not accurately reflect the actual level of crime in the community due to extraneous factors such as shifts in policing policies, or public reporting behaviour.

What does the Crime Statistics and Trends report provide?
This one page report provides crime rates per 100K population. Only the following categories are provided:
- Disorderly conduct
- Drug offences
- Malicious damage to property
- Property Theft

How can I use the Crime Statistics and Trends report to support my school self assessment?
This report provides insight into the crime rate of the LGA the school is based in. This will allow for formulating policy related to improving student welfare and engaging the local community.
What should I look for?
The Rate of Crime per 100K Population by Category, LGA vs Average across LGAs in NSW 2014 bar chart has the drill down feature. Which allows for further understanding and analysis of Local Government Area. Refer to the legend to assist in identifying LGA and State average.
Where does this data come from?
This data comes from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research (BOCSAR).
Yearly figures from 2000 to 2014 are available.
Where the area has a population smaller than 3000, no rate is available.
How frequently is data updated?
Report data is refreshed on request.
