Scout beginner training

This registered professional learning is designed for new and existing users to increase their knowledge of Scout functionality and to develop skills in navigating and understanding reports.

Training is available as face-to-face and Adobe Connect sessions for teachers and school leadership teams.

Scout for Schools - Business Intelligence for Education

This hands-on workshop provides school leaders with the opportunity to explore Scout reports that can assist with school planning, including NAPLAN and VALID results, as well school operations data.

Learn how to use Scout to assist with making evidence-based decisions.

The workshop covers:

  • user functionality and navigation through Scout apps and reports
  • using slicers and filters to view specific data
  • explanation and interpretation of reports
  • hands-on exploration of your reports using live data
  • overview of data governance.

Participants must have completed the mandatory MyPL module Scout Introduction – RG03295 and have access to Scout, prior to training. Allow 2 days after you have completed the module for access to be granted.

Workshops are available as closed or open sessions for leadership teams at host or nominated schools, or open sessions at the department’s Parramatta office.

Scout for teachers

This hands-on workshop is designed for classroom teachers. It will show teachers how to use Scout data to assess student needs and improve learning outcomes.

The workshop covers:

  • essential functionality and navigation through Scout apps and reports
  • using slicers and filters to view specific data
  • explanation and interpretation of reports
  • hands-on exploration of your reports using live data
  • overview of data governance.

Participants must have completed the mandatory MyPL module Scout Introduction – RG03295 and have access to Scout, prior to training. Allow 2 days after you have completed the module for access to be granted

Scout introduction to NAPLAN reports

These 1.25 hour Adobe Connect live sessions focus on NAPLAN reports within Scout. Select a session relevant to your school’s NAPLAN assessment method - NAPLAN Paper or NAPLAN Online.

Designed for classroom teachers, the hands on sessions will show teachers how to access and use NAPLAN reports in Scout.

The workshop covers:

  • an overview of the Scout platform
  • essential Scout navigation and functionality to get the best out of reports
  • hands-on exploration of Scout NAPLAN reports
  • how Scout reports can help support evidence-based decision making.

Who can attend: Teachers from any NSW Department of Education school
