Advocacy at school is the support students receive from adults in the school who can provide encouragement, and who can be turned to for advice.

A recent review of research suggests that teachers and staff can ensure advocacy at school by:

  • investing time in getting to know students
  • talking with students about their learning and aspirations
  • encouraging student voice through surveys and asking for feedback.
School practices plus wellbeing and engagement lead to advocacy at school.
