Screen time impacts on Australian students
About this resource
This study examined how different types and levels of screen use were associated with academic performance and socioemotional wellbeing among Australian adolescents aged 10/11–14/15 years, during the 2010s. The analysis used nationally representative data from the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC), following almost 8,000 adolescents over 3 years. Adolescents reported their daily screen use through detailed 24-hour time-use diaries. The study compared 3 analytical approaches to account for background differences between children and families and to reduce bias from pre-existing characteristics.
