Placement details

Terms 1 - 4, 2023 (Applicants can request a shorter duration in their application).

Role description: The successful applicant will be involved in delivering teaching and learning opportunities across K – 6, with an opportunity for you to share your areas of expertise and work within a team committed to developing and supporting each other.

The successful applicant will be required to collaborate within a small team, focussed on delivering educational excellence to our students.

The successful applicant will be committed to working towards enriching the opportunities presented to our small school.

The anticipated teaching load of the placement will be varied. We run three very small classes, Kindergarten, Years 1 and 2, and a 3 – 6 class, we have 15 students at the time of this advertisement.

A shared responsibility and commitment to be a part of a supportive team is a must.

Additional commitments: Extra-curricular responsibilities will be negotiated.

Desired candidate expertise:

  • Approval to teach K – 6.
  • Willingness to lead extra-curricular activities that support community engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team

Accommodation details

Bellata has a number of residential houses available for private rent. Most houses are on large ¼ acre blocks. A farmhouse has also been available in the past and may be available to the right person and /or family.

Teacher housing may be available and is located in Bellata and at both surrounding towns, being Narrabri (30 mins drive) and Moree (40 mins drive).

Please note: Teacher Housing availability can depend upon a variety of factors, including vacancy status and potential priority offers to other staff with full time rural appointments. Teacher Housing Authority (THA) may not be able to confirm allocation of properties until all applications have been received and processed. Applicants are encouraged to discuss property availability directly with THA. Participants of the Rural Experience Program are not eligible for the Housing Rental Subsidy but may rent a property (at market value) through the THA if available.

School details

Bellata Public School is a small rural school with an emphasis on personalized learning designed to meet the needs of all students in a supportive, safe and happy environment. We currently have an enrolment of 15 students K – 6.

The school is located 50kms from two larger towns, being Moree to the north and Narrabri to the south. Our students come from both a rural and urban setting. The school community works collaboratively to ensure opportunities are made available for all students so they can each achieve their personal best. Students are caring, supportive and considerate of others with a strong sense of belonging.

Staff at Bellata Public School set high expectations for themselves and all students. They are committed to differentiated teaching and learning programs to ensure success for all. They acknowledge that the quality of teaching that occurs each and every day is the single most important influence on student performance. Teacher professional learning is focused on continually strengthening teaching skills to improve student outcomes. The school is well-resourced to engage every learner and has a range of modern technology.

Bellata village is serviced by a general take-away store, fuel station, train station and golf club that serves meals and events to support the local community.
